The Owners

Owner Jeff Johnson is a native of Alabama. He is a Designer and Timber Framer, 3rd generation in the timber industry, family logging business and silvaculture forestry.

Owner Susan Johnson is a native of Tennessee. Susan doesn’t get to spend much time at the office anymore due to her hectic nursing schedule at the local hospital, but you may catch her holding down the office from time to time when Maria is out.

The Artisans

John Brown is our shop foreman. He is from Corpus Christi Texas. John is a third generation housewright. He has been working with timber frame homes since 2003.

Mason Bassett – Mason graduated from the American college of the building arts on 2013 with a bachelor’s of arts in timber framing and has been practicing the art every since. He worked as an intern in college in Colorado, Illinois, and North Carolina. After college he worked in Charleston, SC and New Orleans doing historic restorations before moving to North Carolina to do new construction. When he’s not timber framing he’s camping and going on road trips with his wife and three kids.

Austen, like Mason is also a graduate of the American College of the Building Arts Timber Framing curriculum having graduated in May of 2020.  Throughout school Austen did internships with Vintage Inc. of Winchester VA., Zepsa Industries of Charlotte, NC and finally here at Jeff Johnson Timber Frames.  When he’s not in the shop, you’ll find him shooting, hiking or playing his guitar.

The Office

Maria Dills is a Native of Franklin, NC. She is our office manager and does some of our timber frame design work alongside Jeff. Maria has two certificates for Quickbooks and her Notary License.  Maria has been with us since 2008.  When she is not in the office, Maria enjoys spending time with her family, taking photos and gardening.
